9 11 Site
Today we take a trip back to NYC where the 9/11 Memorial is being completed. Part of this sacred site is now open to the public but the surrounding area is under heavy construction, as you’ll see in the background of a couple of images below.
Visiting a site like this carries a special meaning, one obviously shared by everyone who enters. There is a tremendous sense of respect and honor to be here, not the somber mood that some may expect. The fact that I was walking on sacred ground provided an uplifting experience for me. When the perimeter construction is complete, this will be truly a sight to behold.
I’ll let the few images below speak for themselves.
Interested parties can find a live webcam of the site and access to animations and the In Memoriam area by clicking those links.
It’s the first weekend of 2012, be safe, be kind and we’ll see you on Monday.
Have a great weekend!

I was there in 2002, a year after the attacks, and it looks so much different now, 10 years later…

Beautifully captured Jimi. You struck a nerve with me as I worked on Wall Street for about 5 years (before the fatal day) and haven’t been back. Great tribute.

Jimi, you’ve captured these just perfectly. I know how difficult it can be to portray a place like this from behind the lens, but you have done a wonderful job
Have a great weekend my friend.

Terrific job capturing this location Jimi. I especially like the sunburst in the first image, and the leading lines of the second one.

Great shots, Jimi. There is just enough detail in the shadows and none of the highlights are washed out, not bad for a sunny day.

Terrific series of images Jimi. I haven’t been to the site since the memorial has been completed but will be there in March and hope to get there.
