As the Fall color has peaked and the beautiful foliage makes it way back to nature, we are left with those vibrant images that nature has painted upon her canvas. As we travel about the countryside we are constantly reminded of the sheer elegance all around us, even on cloudy and overcast days.

The image above was taken at mid-morning, following a heavy rainfall the night before. With the sun just breaking through a clearing sky, the lighting remained soft but illuminating enough for this image to show it’s true colors.

Processing

One again, what began as a 3-shot bracket, which I intended to process into an HDR image, ended with the selection of the “0″ exposure being processed totally within Lightroom 4.

Besides the settings shown below in the basic adjustment panel, a few saturation enhancements were made as well.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Simply beautiful Jimi. We haven’t hit fall like this yet. Hopefully we will get something like that your picture this year. Last year we went from Hot to cold in a matter of days and the fall colors didn’t stick around like they normally do.

  6. Great composition, Jimi! Love the repetitive theme of the trees down the pathway.Wonderful colors, too. Looking at your settings, especially for Vibrance and Saturation, I was wondering if you use any of the Camera Calibration Settings. I have found that using the Nikon Landscape Calibration Setting means I do not need to push the other sliders quite so far.

  8. I am a total sucker for a vanishing point, they add so much juicy tension to a shot. The colors here really add a touch of something special as well. Beautiful image here, Jimi!

  10. This is a wonderful Autumn picture Jimi! The position of the sun is spot on for this scene and the colour saturation really works for the mix of golds, browns, oranges and yellows.

My only constructive thought would be about the saturation of the green landscape and cars to the left of the picture. I found my eye kept being drawn to it, as it clashes with the tones for rest of the picture. I just thought maybe it could have been selectively desaturated for that aspect, but the photo is a great one nonetheless.

Thanks for the feedback, Pete. I appreciate it.
You make a good point, since the focus is the colorful trees. Certainly would not have hurt the overall image by lowering the saturation of the grass and cars a bit. Nice tip.

  11. Wow Jimi, what beautiful color. Great composition. Even with all of the beauty, I have to admit that the first thing that I thought was how I would hate to have to rake all those leaves. :)
