Continuing the theme from the previous post, today we have a look at a few yachts within the Yankee Point Marina in Lancaster Virginia. I took this shot just after sunrise, one of my favorite time to be out photographing. The peace and solitude of the early morning cannot be beat and the soft lighting is a huge plus as well. Anyhow this is one of the many tranquil scenes you’ll find at waters edge, which makes this a favorite topic to cover.

Using my trusty Nikkor 18-200mm, this image was created from a 3-shot bracket (-2 to +2), run through HDR Efex Pro, then imported into Photoshop where I applied the “Portrait Drama” filter within Topaz Labs Adjust 5. Initially the colors were a bit too saturated but lowering a saturation slider makes for an easy fix.

Enjoy!

Beautiful light and reflection Jimi. I agree about shooting at dawn — there are few people up and you have a slice of the world to yourself. If it wasn’t so hard to get up that early…
