Followers of this blog will know that I am often out during the early morning hours chasing a sunrise or that magical light that is short-lived. It is those times of sunrise or sunset that transform what appear to be ordinary scenes into interesting images.

The image below shows a weathered barn that I have driven past many times and one that I envisioned as a nice scene if framed and extracted from it’s cluttered surroundings. I think many photographers often see things that they just know they will someday create an image from, when the timing is right.

As I sat up for this shot a small fox crossed the frame before I was ready. It sure would have been nice to have included the reddish brown creature. Having missed that opportunity I was happy to capture the morning light as originally planned. :-)

Processing

The image was completely processed within Lightroom 4 by simply adjusting the sliders in the develop module’s “Basic” panel. I wanted to capture that daybreak moment so some areas of the image are intentionally left darker that others.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Very, Very nice, Jimi. I like the surreal color and contrast of the scene. And the composition ain’t too bad either. :-)

  3. I like that you have left just a little of the detail in the barn and surrounding landscape rather than take it all the way to a full silhouette. This gives a very nice balance to the overall image.
