Today’s image is from one of my favorite hangouts along Carter’s Creek in the great state of Virginia. You can see a couple of previous images here and here. With another trip to the Northern Neck scheduled soon, I thought I would share this shot here today.

The sun has just dropped over the horizon to the right and the first hint of the blue hour has began to show in the sky above. The blue hour supplies a surreal type of overhead lighting that is great for details and colors, often yielding unique scenes with hues of awesome purple and blue. This is no doubt one of the best times for photography.

That lovely home across the creek was worked on during it’s construction by my long-time fishing pal and great friend Joe Woods. Joe was a Master Carpenter who left us too soon a couple of years ago. But like my old pal, this area brings me many great memories.
