Welcome back, friends. I hope you enjoyed the weekend.

Today’s image shows the stern of the schooner Lady Maryland, now spending the Winter in Dry-dock for some needed repairs. I snapped this shot in Summer (2011) on a hot and humid day.  The ship was built in 1985 – 1986 with it’s mission of serving as a floating classroom. This is the flagship of the Living Classrooms Foundation and has taken thousands of children on educational excursions, teaching them about life on the Chesapeake Bay, it’s history and ecosystems.

What an awesome way for students to learn!

We’ll have more images of this wonderful schooner in future post.

A kid would never forget a lesson in a classroom like that, Jimi. Neither would an adult!

  15. I like the processing and the way you have turned the background into what looks like a painted stage set. The composition and top framing from the rolled sail works really well.
