Happy Friday, everyone!

After a long hot week with temperatures in the high nineties (F) what could be more relaxing than a dip in the pool? Since I do not have one in my back yard, we will travel back to Las Vegas and dip our toes into a couple of the many pools at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. It was a grand time for sure and I would recommend this outstanding complex if you are ever in Vegas. One of the most beautiful things about cyberspace is the ability to travel anywhere in nanoseconds with a click or two. :-)

We begin with the poolside entrance.

This image was taken around 8:00 am on what would surely be another roasting hot day in the desert. Surprisingly, the morning hours were very pleasant. The intense heat would not arrive until midday.

In the upper portion of this shot you may notice the tracks of the Las Vegas Monorail system, which runs the length of the town in about 7 stops. Great way to get around, it’s just a short walk to everything no matter where you exit.

In this pool you can wade, walk or swim a really long distance as this meanders around the pool area. Most of the pools are 3.5 to 4 feet deep, making them fairly safe for swimmers and non-swimmers alike. As you navigate this pool there are many places to get out and rest in the shade, get a relaxing drink or even make a phone call.

Above, you can see one of those nice shady areas previously mentioned.

Here we have one of the watering holes, also know as a poolside bar. This particular one makes some really great frozen tropical drinks, one of which I would have had at the time of this capture had they been open. Hey, I was on vacation and I drink by thirst, not the clock. :-)

What may appear to be smoke is actually a cool water mist. These misting stations are spread around the complex and really come in handy, as you can imagine.

Above we have another relaxing corner of the pool for hanging out. This area also has a conveniently located refreshment stand.

Lastly, we will simply chill out in one of the shaded cabanas, maybe even steal a little nap.

Thanks so much for hanging out and taking a dip. I hope you enjoyed the visit.

Until next time… have a great weekend!

  4. Nice series of shots, Jimi. I guess being the LV provides entertainment all night, finding the poolside empty at 8am was no surprise.

  9. We’re hitting some serious temperatures up here in Canada finally, and your shots here are not only a grand adventure, they are refreshing and cooling! Now, no one wants to see Mr. Toad here in a Speedo, so the ability to sneak away for a refreshing dip like this is something I have truly enjoyed!
