Stay on Track
After playing a little mad scientist and pushing the envelope a bit in the previous post, it’s back to some basic processing. I thank everyone for your comments, feedback and suggestions. It was all a big help. There are times when we need more eyes than we have and a different perspective from others is quite valuable. So today’s title is not simply a message to myself, but covers the subject featured in the image below.
I continue to process more B&W images as there are so many filter options to choose from. Eventually I’ll develop a couple of custom filters to add to the library.
Have a great day!

Great shot Jimi. I really like the b/w one. Well done!
all photographers are attracted by railroads, with the lines taking them down all the way. Haven’t we all been flat on our belly ones for a shot like this?

Great composition Jimi. I like the B&W version a bit better as I think the tones and contrast really work well for your pov here.

Fantastic Jimi. I love the leading lines and while both images rock I think I perfer the color version this time around.

Yep, Mono for this shot all the way. I think that the main reason I say that is you can tell in the color image there was some harsh contrasty light going on by looking at the telephone poles. In the Mono version that is all but removed. Also, the Mono version really brought out the details in the tracks.
I like this pictures!

Nice pair – I prefer the color version because of the warmth. Interesting wires – they are the only asymmetrical element – I wonder why the other tall pole doesn’t have wires attached – their absence is I think quite an important part of why this image works so well.

Thanks for the feedback, Andy. I’m glad the other set of poles are without lines attached. That may well have changed the whole scene for me. I really dislike wires and lines in my shots, except in a case like this where they are running parallel to the tracks themselves and provide no disruption of the flow.

Jimi, beautiful stuff. Once again, I like the B&W. That shadow down the center of the tracks is fantastic. I do like the little piece of lake to the left on the color image though. I would have to say Monochrome for this one buddy. Well done!
