Today we take a trip down to the dock at night where photo opportunities are everywhere, even if you have photographed the same area during the day. It’s a completely different world. While the scene below may look eerily quiet, there was a rocking party going on at the Bo Brooks Seafood Restaurant just out of the frame to the left. This immediate area, off of Boston Street in downtown Baltimore, is known as Lighthouse Point, a part of the Canton neighborhood.

In the foreground I included the steering wheel and railing of an old clunker of a skiff. It made such a contrast to the yachts across the harbor.

Processing

Once again I decided to go for a painterly look. The 3-shot bracket was run through HDR Efex Pro 2 before bringing it into Photoshop where a little “BuzSim” was applied in Topaz Lab’s Simplify 4. To round out the processing I added some vibrance (+27).

As a reminder, a free upgrade awaits owners of Simplify 2 and 3. You can read about the upgrade here. New purchasers can enter the discount code “GETSIMPLIFIED” for a 30% discount if you purchase by 9/30/12.

Thanks for clicking by. ;-)

  6. I have never managed to get a single crisp shots of boats after sundown due to them rocking on the water. You have managed it with a three shot bracket! Well done, Jimi! Nice processing choice, too.
